Store and office glass doors that drag, won't latch or won't close
Commercial glass doors usually fail in small ways first: the door drifts, bangs in the frame, or needs a shoulder to latch. Most of the time one part is worn and the rest is fine. The closer
Door closers and floor closers
The arm at the top of the door, or a unit in the floor under a frameless one, sets the swing and the latch.
It bangs into the frame
The swing speed or final snap needs setting, often a short visit.
It needs a push to latch
A weak closer, a dropped door or a strike out of line. The pro checks all three.
An oily streak under the arm
The closer has failed inside; a new one goes on the same mounting.
It was wedged open all summer
Propping it against the closer strains the arm and valves. A hold-open arm is the better way to let air in.
Frameless doors
Pivots, hinges and patch fittings on frameless doors
Frameless glass doors turn on top and bottom pivots or hang on hinges clamped to the glass; the corner clamps are patch fittings. A sagging or scraping door usually has a worn pivot or loose fitting, often replaceable with the glass left in.
A chip in the glass at a fitting is different. Tempered glass can fail from a damaged edge, so that glass should be replaced. Interior doors use the same hardware; see glass partitions.
Locks and exits
Locks, cylinders and panic hardware
A stiff lock is often a door pulling on the bolt. Fix the alignment first, or a new cylinder will stick too. Panic hardware, the push bar on exit doors, has to release every time; if one sticks or was damaged, get it seen to promptly and don't chain the door in the meantime.
Broken door glass
Replacing a broken door lite (tempered or laminated)
The lite is the door's glass panel. It has to be safety glass, and it can usually be replaced without a new door, much like storefront glass.
Tempered lite
The usual choice. It breaks all at once, so the door is boarded until the new lite arrives.
Laminated lite
Holds together when cracked, so the door may stay secure meanwhile.
Insulated lite
Fog between the panes means a blown seal, and the thermal glass unit is swapped.
Automatic doors
Automatic operators and accessibility buttons
Push-button and sensor openers have their own motor, arm and controls. If one hesitates or slams, the fault may be the operator, sensor, button or a dragging door. Not every door pro services operators, so describe what it's doing in your request and we'll look for one who does.

After the police
After a break-in: check the cylinder, the frame and the lite
Once you have photos, check three things before the door is simply locked again.
The cylinder
Pried or pulled cylinders may still turn but aren't secure. Replace, and rekey if keys were taken.
The frame
A bent strike or twisted hinge side means the lock can't do its job.
