What the service is, and what it isn't

Windows Windsor is a free referral service for home and business glass in Windsor, Ontario and Essex County. You describe a job, and we pass it to an independent local professional who does that kind of work. Pros may pay Windows Windsor a referral fee. That doesn't make us part of any deal between you and them, and it costs you nothing.

We don't measure, quote, supply, install or repair anything, and no one from Windows Windsor visits your home or business. We give no warranty on any pro's work, products or materials.

Your agreement is with the pro you hire

• The pro gives you the quote and sets the price, the scope and the schedule.
• Any contract you sign is with the pro, and we have no power to alter or enforce it.
• The pro answers for their own work, materials, insurance, WSIB coverage where it applies, permits, site safety and cleanup.
• Warranties come from the pro and from the product's maker. Before you sign, ask what's covered and whom to call.

We can't promise that a pro will be free, will quote, or will call by a particular date. What we do promise is to follow up when you tell us a request has gone quiet.

If you sign a contract in your home, Ontario's Consumer Protection Act generally lets you cancel it within a 10-day cooling-off period that starts when you receive your written copy (Ontario's guide to home service contracts). The Act also limits how far a final bill can go above a written estimate unless you agree to a new price. Get every quote in writing and keep a copy.

Our pages explain window, door and glass problems in general terms. They aren't professional, legal or financial advice about your property, and only a pro who sees the job can say what it needs.

Where we describe the City of Windsor's Community Improvement Plan (CIP) grants, the provincial Home Renovation Savings Program (HRSP), building permits or heritage rules, we're summarising official sources that change. The City of Windsor, your town, or the program itself has the final word: check the City's development incentives, the HRSP site and the City's building permit page. We don't prepare, submit or track grant or permit applications, and mentioning a grant in your request doesn't mean you qualify.

Fair use of the site

Give accurate details, and only request work on property you own, manage or have permission to arrange work on. Don't upload anything unlawful or anyone else's personal information. Requests that misuse the service may be refused or deleted. The text and images on this site belong to us or are used with permission, so please don't copy them for commercial use.

Limits on liability, updates and the law that applies

As far as the law allows, Windows Windsor is not liable for the work, products, prices, delays, conduct or advice of any pro, or for losses that come from a contract between you and a pro. The site is offered as it is. We work to keep it accurate and running but can't promise either. Where Ontario consumer protection law gives you rights that can't be signed away, these terms don't reduce them.

We may change these terms; whatever is posted here, with its date, is what applies. These terms fall under the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada in force there.
